Two hosts from Telemundo TV in the US have been suspended after they were seen making racist gestures during a morning show while celebrating South Korea's 2-0 win over Germany at the FIFA World Cup.
The Asian nation's shock win over the defending champions helped Mexico progress to the knockout stages and led to a wave of celebrations across the Central American nation.
While celebrating on Telemundo's Spanish-language morning show, Un Nuevo Dia, hosts 'Chef James' Tahhan and Janice Bencosme made offensive gestures.
They were immediately panned on social media and led to the broadcaster's intervention.
The broadcaster suspended the pair, calling the behaviour "contrary to our values".
“We are extremely disappointed with our morning show contributors James Tahhan’s and Janice Bencosme’s gestures referring to the South Korean national soccer team," a statement to USA Today read.
"Our company takes this type of inappropriate behavior very seriously as it is contrary to our values and standards.
"As a result, both James Tahhan and Janice Bencosme have been placed on an indefinite suspension."
Many on social media vented their anger at the gestures.
