British singer Imogen Heap made an experimental fashion choice for the Grammy awards, in a custom made Twitter dress that displays pictures tweeted in by fans.

The custom made dress features a screen that displays a stream of pictures submitted by fans who posted images to Twitter using the hashtag #twitdress. The images appear in real time and marks one of the first attempts to combine social media with apparel.

The singer said that the dress enabled her to bring her fans along to the prestigious awards ceremony. Fans sent in a wide range of images from photographs of their tattoos to original artwork and illustrations and photo mash-ups.

The 'Twitdress' also has its own Twitter account, with the singer posting preview pictures of her dress before she appeared at the pre-televised part of the Grammy Awards.

Heap won the Grammy for Best Engineered Album, Non Classical.
