Two arrested during raids in Sydney

Two men have been arrested as police conduct raids across Sydney's west as part of an investigation into extortion.

Two men have been arrested by officers from the Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad as raids take place across Sydney's west.

A home on Rosemont Street in Punchbowl was among several others being searched in the city's west on Friday afternoon.

It's believed the raids are part of an ongoing police investigation into extortion.

Police said the operation was not related to counter terrorism or the Parramatta shooting incident two weeks ago.
