Australian authorities have intercepted two more asylum seeker boats and Border Protection Command will transfer the passengers to Christmas Island for security, health and identity checks.
HMAS Albany intercepted one vessel carrying 35 passengers and two crew southwest of Ashmore Islands on Monday afternoon.
ACV Botany Bay later intercepted and assisted a vessel north of the Tiwi Islands.
The vessel, carrying 16 passengers and one crew member, was detected by a RAAF maritime patrol aircraft after a tip-off from an offshore oil and gas operator.
