Two Australians have been released from a London hospital after being injured in a central city stabbing attack that left a US woman dead.
The Australians, a man and a woman, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in Wednesday night's attack in Russell Square, a Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) spokesperson said in a statement on Thursday.
Armed police were called at 10.33pm local time after a Norwegian man of Somali origin with a knife started to attack people in the square.
Police said there was no evidence the attack was terrorism related and evidence to date pointed to mental health issues sparking a "spontaneous" knife attack on strangers selected at random.

An American citizen in her 60s was treated at the scene but pronounced dead a short time later.
A British man who suffered a stab wound to his stomach remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The British Press Association reported on Thursday evening that four others - an Australian woman stabbed in the back, an Australian man stabbed in the chest, an American man stabbed in the chest and an Israeli woman stabbed in her bicep had all been discharged from hospital.
The DFAT spokesperson said a second Australian woman was also at the scene of the attack but was not injured.
Consular assistance has been provided to the man and one of the women and DFAT was attempting to contact the other woman involved to also offer assistance.
Police used a Taser while detaining the 19-year-old suspect and he was later formally arrested on suspicion of murder.
