Two children critical after NSW crash

Two boys aged 9 and 11 have been critically injured after the ute they were travelling in crashed into a tree near Goulburn in NSW.

Two young boys are fighting for their lives after the twin-cab ute they were travelling in veered off the Hume Highway in NSW and smashed into a tree.

The boys, aged 9 and 11, were sitting in the back seat when the car crashed at Yarra, near Goulburn, about 2pm on Saturday.

They have been airlifted to Canberra Hospital with critical injuries.

The boys' 33-year-old mother, who was driving at the time, was taken to Goulburn Base Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Their father, who was in the front passenger seat, was not injured.
