Police are investigating three separate shootings in less than eight hours in Sydney's west and the Blue Mountains.

An 18-year-old man has died in hospital after he and his 25-year-old brother were shot by men in balaclavas in their Werrington home just after 10 o'clock last night.

The older brother's in a serious condition in Nepean hospital.

Earlier in the night a 32-year-old man was shot in the back of the head in his home at Katoomba in the Blue Mountains when he opened his front door to three men who demanded cash.

He's in Katoomba Hospital, his wife and baby daughter are unharmed.

And a 43-year-old woman's been charged with murder, after a 70-year-old man was shot dead in an apartment in Glebe yesterday afternoon.
