Two dead, two injured in NSW car crash

Two people have died and two others have been injured after a vehicle towing a caravan rolled in northern NSW.

Two people - one of them an elderly woman - have died and two others have been injured after a vehicle towing a caravan crashed in northern NSW.

It is understood a Toyota Prado towing a caravan hit a railing before crashing into a tree on the Oxley Highway at Yarrowitch just after 1pm on Thursday.

A 72-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man died at the scene. The driver, a 58-year-old man, and a 38-year-old female passenger were taken to Tamworth Base Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The vehicle also contained two dogs and a cat. One of the dogs died, with the other surviving, while the cat has not been located.
