Greater Western Sydney will soon learn the full cost of their 108-point walloping of Gold Coast, with ruckman Rory Lobb taken to hospital amid the AFL club's latest injury "carnage".
Lobb was sent for scans after being crunched in a second-quarter marking contest on Saturday at Spotless Stadium, while forward Daniel Lloyd hurt his knee, also in the second term.
Their setbacks were the only downside to the Giants' biggest win over any opposition, bettering last year's 102-point belting of Gold Coast.
Key forward Jeremy Cameron booted six goals against the hapless Suns, with Callan Ward and Josh Kelly magnificent in the engine room for the hosts.
GWS were inaccurate early, kicking two goals from nine shots in the first term, but busted the game open to triumph 20.14 (134) to 4.2 (26).
The Suns trailed by 44 points at halftime and continued to fold meekly despite Lobb and Lloyd playing no part in the second half.
Gun midfielder Dylan Shiel was also helped off late in the second term after rolling his ankle, but returned to be one of five Giants with more than 30 disposals.
"There was a bit of carnage there," GWS coach Leon Cameron said.
"It wasn't a great night (on the injury front). We had a couple down, so I was really pleased with the win.
"Whether it is Rory's ribs or his back, we'll find out. Clearly, he was in a bit of discomfort ... the boys are concerned.
"Fingers crossed ... we'll see whether he's escaped serious injury."
The absence of Lobb, asked to step up as the club's premier ruckman after Shane Mumford's retirement, will be hard to cover. Gold Coast big man Jarrod Witts helped himself to 64 hitouts at Spotless.
The Giants' depth is already being tested by the injury-enforced absence of stars Brett Deledio (calf), Toby Greene (foot), Tom Scully (ankle) and Zac Williams (achilles).
GWS next have a bye. Lloyd is still being assessed but he's expected to be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks.
The Giants, desperately down on form and confidence in May during a four-match losing streak, sit ninth on the ladder after backing up their breakthrough win over Adelaide in style.
"This is a training run. It's embarrassing for the Gold Coast Suns," Jonathan Brown said on Fox Footy.
The lopsided showdown between the expansion sides will raise further questions about what has gone so horribly wrong at the Suns.
"We won't sweep it under the carpet," Gold Coast coach Stuart Dew said of the loss.
"As a midfield group, that's two in a row where we've let ourselves down. We can't hide from it."
It's the first time the Giants, billed as premiership contenders during the off-season, have recorded consecutive wins since starting their campaign with victories over the Western Bulldogs and Collingwood.
