Two paramedics attacked in north Qld

Two paramedics have been assaulted by a woman they were treating in the back of an ambulance in Cairns.

A woman has been charged after two paramedics were assaulted in Cairns.

Police say the 24-year-old lashed out at the paramedics as they treated her in the back of an ambulance outside a home in the suburb of Redlynch late Saturday night.

The paramedics, a 39-year-old woman and 48-year-old man, both suffered minor bruising.

Their accused attacker was taken to the Cairns Base Hospital where she fled but was later arrested, police said.

She will face court next month on two counts of serious assault public officer and obstruct police.

The incident is the latest in an a string of assaults on Queensland paramedics, and comes a month after a female paramedic was punched in the face and dragged from her her vehicle outside a Cairns backpackers' hostel.
