This time the shootings were 20 minutes apart in nearby suburbs - the first at a house in Rouse Hill before another at Bella Vista home.
Police were called to Greensborough Avenue house following reports of shots being fired around midnight.
They located a number of bullet casings outside as well as bullet holes in the dwelling. None of the occupants were injured.
About 20 minutes later, shots were reported to have been fired into an Ashburn Close house at Bella Vista.
There were three people in the house but again no one was hurt. Crime scenes have been established for forensic specialists. A total of 52 shootings have occurred in Sydney this year and 21 this month.
