Two stabbed, one shot in bikie-linked home invasion

A man and a woman have been stabbed during a home invasion in Sydney's west with the injured man then firing shots at the assailants as they fled in a car.

A man seriously stabbed during a violent incident at a rural property in Sydney's west allegedly pulled out a rifle and opened fire on a couple in a car as they fled the scene.

The driver - a man with bikie links - was injured in the shooting, NSW Police said on Tuesday.

Detectives say what unfolded at the Bringelly property on Monday night was "terrifying".

A 32-year-old man and 28-year-old woman - both wearing balaclavas and armed with a gun and a knife - allegedly forced their way inside the residence.
Three people were inside the property at the time: two men aged 35 and a 29-year-old woman.

One of the 35-year-old's was stabbed twice in the stomach and once in the back while the woman was stabbed in the neck, Acting Superintendent Paul Albury told reporters in Sydney.

The 29-year-old woman is now in a critical-but-stable condition in hospital.

As the balaclava-clad couple drove off the man who'd been stabbed fired at their car.

"The two offenders ... left in a Holden Colorado and were reversing out of the driveway when a 35-year-old man from the premises armed himself with a Winchester rifle and opened fire," Acting Supt Albury said on Tuesday.

"Two of the shots that were fired towards the vehicle struck the driver's side of the vehicle, injuring the 32-year-old man."

He continued driving until he hit a telegraph pole on The Northern Road in Luddenham some five kilometres away, Acting Supt Albury said.
"There was extensive blood in the vehicle, so it could have been a contributing factor. Also, obviously, the speed he was travelling at was a factor."

The female passenger was uninjured and is being questioned at Liverpool Police Station.

The driver - allegedly a member of the Rebels bikie gang - was shot in the arm and remains in hospital under police guard.

"The 32-year-old man, who attended the premises and ... allegedly committed the home invasion, we believe has links to an outlaw motorcycle group," Acting Supt Albury said.

"It must have been a terrifying incident. A number of people were stabbed inside.

"But at the same token, the level of violence in firing a 303 Winchester rifle at a moving vehicle is an alarming escalation."
