Two Victorian ministers will replace John Eren as he recovers in hospital from a heart attack.

Martin Foley will be acting sports minister and Phillip Dalidakis acting veterans, tourism and major events minister, Premier Daniel Andrews announced in a statement on Monday.

Mr Eren was taken to Geelong University Hospital on Sunday after experiencing discomfort and had surgery to insert a stent after suffering a heart attack.

"I am pleased to report that he's in good spirits and is expected to make a full recovery," Mr Andrews said.

Mr Eren remains in hospital and is on sick leave.
