A 12-year-old boy and a teenager are fighting for their lives after separate incidents in which they were hit by cars while walking in Perth and in rural Western Australia.

The 12-year-old boy was crossing Whatley Crescent in Maylands on Thursday evening when he was struck and was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital with serious injuries.

He's in the intensive care unit in a critical but stable condition.

In a separate collision east of Perth on Thursday afternoon, a 16-year-old boy was hit by a car while walking on Peel Terrace Bridge in Northam.

He was taken to the local hospital with serious injuries and is now in the intensive care unit at Royal Perth Hospital.
