Tyre king's Vic companies face insolvency

Two of tyre king Bob Jane's companies face being wound up with debts of more than $1.3 million owing to Victoria's tax collector.

Two of tyre king Bob Jane's companies face being wound up with Victoria's revenue collection agency claiming it's owed more than $1.3 million in unpaid land tax.

An application for winding up in insolvency of Bob Jane Properties Pty Ltd and Calder Park Raceway Pty Ltd has been filed in the Victorian Supreme Court.

The documents say the companies owe $1,317,728 in land tax and interest to the commissioner of state revenue.

Bob Jane Properties was served with a statutory demand on May 10, while Calder Park Raceway was served with the notice on June 6, the document said.

ASIC records list Bob Jane and his son Rodney Jane as the directors of both companies.

The demands relate to two land tax assessments: one for 2009 and the other for this year.

The companies owe nearly $490,000 in tax and more than $228,000 in interest for the 2009 assessment.

Nearly $600,000 is owed from this year's tax assessment, the documents say.

The revenue office has not received any payment, it says.

Comment is being sought from the companies.

The wind-up application comes after a court battle between Bob Jane and Rodney Jane in May.

The motor racing legend is seeking the repayment of about $2.9 million which he claims he loaned to Bob Jane Corporation, now run by Rodney Jane, to purchase property.
