BBC's Danny Savage reports that homes are still inaccessible and without electricity after power lines were brought down by the weight of the snow.
But for farmers the biggest fear is their livestock. Estimates suggest up to 10,000 animals may have been buried beneath snowdrifts six metres high, at the height of the lambing season.

Farmers Robby Christian and Heather Moore are missing 700 of their ewes and fear most will have suffocated under the snow.
"This is our livelihood, we've got nothing else. Once the sheep are gone, that's it. We've just got to keep going," Ms Moore said.
British media have dubbed the month "Miserable March" and bookmakers used to taking bets on a White Christmas are now offering odds on a White Easter.
