UN Security Council passes counter-terrorism resolution

The United Nations Security Council has unanimously approved a resolution urging nations to make it a serious offence for their nationals to join armed groups such as the Islamic State.

The United Nations Security Council has unanimously approved a resolution urging nations to make it a serious offence for their nationals to join armed groups such as the Islamic State.

The special meeting of the Council was chaired by United States President Barack Obama.

Reporter Aaron Thomas is at the UN and he is speaking to Kristina Kukolja.
