Andrew Bogut has flown to Cleveland with the Golden State Warriors before game six of the NBA Finals, but the status of his injured left knee remains a mystery.

The Australian centre had an MRI scan on the knee in Oakland, California, on Tuesday before boarding the flight and the team's doctors will continue to evaluate the results, ESPN reported.

The Warriors hold a 3-2 lead in the series and can claim back-to-back titles with a win against the Cleveland Cavaliers in game six on Thursday (Friday AEST).

If Cleveland wins, the NBA title will be decided with a game-seven finale in Oakland on Sunday.

Bogut hyper-extended his knee in the Warriors' 112-97 loss to the Cavaliers on Monday.

There are fears the injury will not only force Bogut out of the finals but also the Australian squad for the Rio Olympics in August.

The Warriors will receive a boost in game six, with power forward Draymond Green playing after serving a one-game suspension for multiple flagrant fouls.
