Undermanned St Kilda cop fresh injury blow

St Kilda defender Jimmy Webster (suspected broken hand), GWS backmen Adam Kennedy (concussion) and Aidan Corr (ankle) have all suffered injuries in Canberra.

St Kilda's Jimmy Webster suffered a suspected broken hand in Saturday's AFL clash at Canberra, while GWS are also counting the cost of their 44-point victory after injuries to backmen Adam Kennedy and Aidan Corr.

Webster's setback came early in the first half at Manuka Oval, where the under-siege and undermanned Saints' defence sorely missed the unavailable trio of Jarryn Geary, Jake Carlisle and Dylan Roberton.

The 25-year-old defender played through the pain but is in immense doubt for his team's round-eight clash with West Coast at Marvel Stadium.

"He'll have scans. The early call is he might have fractured his hand, so he did a good job to hang in there," Saints coach Alan Richardson said.

"That will be confirmed (or not) in the next couple of days but it looks like that's the way it is heading."

Giants coach Leon Cameron is upbeat stars Josh Kelly, Phil Davis and Lachie Whitfield will return from injury against Hawthorn at the MCG on Sunday week.

However, Cameron may be forced to make two changes.

Kennedy was able to walk from the field after a head knock during the second term, when the motorised stretcher was driven onto the ground.

But the foundation Giant played no further part in the match after failing a concussion test.

"He's actually really good now, which is great," Cameron told reporters.

"He's tough, hard. He always puts his head over the footy.

"He'll go through the protocols. We've got eight days (break), which is a bonus ... hopefully he can put his hand up for next week but our doctors will tell us."

Corr landed awkwardly in a fourth-quarter marking contest and was unable to put any weight on his right leg.

"He clearly rolled his ankle ... hopefully it's only a sprained ankle but time will tell," Cameron said.
