Less than two weeks after her parents and sister were laid to rest and a month of "unimaginable trauma", mourners returned to the same Sydney church to farewell actor Jessica Falkholt.

White doves were released for the 29-year-old following Monday's private funeral at St Mary's Catholic Church in Concord in front of hundreds of friends and relatives.

Describing Jessica as an "incredibly private person", family and friends had requested the ceremony remain a closed event.

In a statement, they said the past weeks had been a time of "unimaginable trauma".

"We look forward to putting this horrible period behind us, while cherishing the memories we have with our friend, Jess," they said.

Jessica's white casket, adorned with pink and red roses, was carried out of the church by loved ones before it was blessed by Father Paul Crowley.

Some of her closest relatives and friends then released eight doves.

The trauma started on Boxing Day when the family's car was struck head-on by a four-wheel-drive near Ulladulla on the NSW south coast, killing her parents Lars and Vivian instantly.

Jessica and her sister, Annabelle, were pulled from the wreck before the vehicles erupted in flames, and Annabelle died from her injuries in hospital three days later.

The actress spent several weeks clinging to life in St George Hospital and died last week, six days after her life support was switched off.

Jessica's uncle Paul Ponticello and cousin Cathy Randazzo were among those who spoke during the service.

During Monday's service, the family again thanked all those who assisted at the scene of the crash along with medical staff who cared for Jessica in hospital.

In lieu of flowers, they asked for donations to be made to Australian Cancer Research.

Jessica has been remembered as a "gorgeous soul" and talented actor who was a pleasure to work with.

The actor found fame on the small screen as Hope Morrison on TV soap Home and Away.

One of the show's stars, James Stewart, said Jessica was a "beautiful and talented soul".

Nadine Terens, a make-up artist who worked with Jessica on the long-running series, said the actor had fought bravely and ferociously for her life but would be reunited with her family.

"Shine bright you gorgeous soul," she wrote on Facebook.

"Our friendship will never be forgotten."

Her Home and Away role paved the way for her feature film debut in the forthcoming supernatural thriller, Harmony.

The driver of the 4WD, 50-year-old Craig Whitall, was reportedly travelling home from a Nowra methadone clinic. He too died in the collision.

It's since been revealed Whitall was a habitual traffic offender with more than 60 convictions to his name.
