The federal government is expected to release the final report of the royal commission into trade union corruption on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says he's read much of Commissioner Dyson Heydon's report, including all of the recommendations.
He told reporters in Victoria the government would have more to say on Wednesday.
Deposed prime minister Tony Abbott on Tuesday urged Mr Turnbull to take strong action against union corruption.
He told The Australian the construction and maritime unions had been particularly exposed by the royal commission, adding: "I'm sure he (Mr Turnbull) will respond very strongly and very appropriately".
