Unlucky Daw missing for Roos

The loss of tall forward Majak Daw to concussion was an added frustration for coach Brad Scott ahead of North Melbourne's latest defeat.

North Melbourne coach Brad Scott has lamented the ongoing fitness woes of ruck-forward Majak Daw after the tall powerhouse was forced to withdraw from the side's round-three fixture in Hobart.

Less than an hour before kick-off at Bellerive Oval on Saturday, the Kangaroos' team sheet showed a line through Daw's name, with North subsequently suffering a 42-point loss against the GWS Giants.

"Maj has had just a real bad run of luck," Scott told reporters after the game.

"He had a head clash at training on Friday and was just a little bit groggy after that.

"He pulled up fine but just not good enough to play which is really frustrating for him and frustrating for us."

Daw had been passed fit for the Hobart game after injuring his ankle last round.

"We just need to get some continuity into Maj," Scott said.

"I think the raw ability is there for all to see but we just need to get him playing consistently."

With veteran Jarrad Waite still on the injury list, Scott had hoped 195cm Daw - who played five of the Kangaroos' final six games last season - would loom as another tall option alongside Ben Brown and Todd Goldstein.

The coach said Daw's concussion should clear in time for the side's round-four clash with the Western Bulldogs.
