Unveiling 'misconceptions' of the veil

A new book explores some of the more surprising aspects of modern veiling.

The veiling of women is most often linked to belonging to the Muslim faith.

But the University of Sydney's Professor Sahar Amer has been studing the evolution of veiling and says in the modern world the practice has many contradictory meanings.

Her upcoming book explores some of the more surprising aspects of modern veiling.

She spoke to Thea Cowie about some of the misconceptions around veils.
