Unwell Kenny pulls out of Tall Blacks tour

Perth Wildcats guard Jarrod Kenny has pulled out of New Zealand's Olympic basketball qualifying campaign due to an ongoing stomach complaint.

Perth Wildcats guard Jarrod Kenny has pulled out of the Tall Blacks' Olympic qualifying campaign due to an ongoing stomach complaint.

Kenny, a member of the Wildcats NBL championship-winning team, has been replaced by Derone Raukawa for New Zealand's looming games in Asia and Europe ahead of the Olympic qualifying tournament in the Philippines.

"I had thought about coming on tour and toughing it out but that would not be doing myself or the team justice," Kenny said.

"If you are going to commit to the Tall Blacks, you have to be prepared to give all you have and I know I am just not going to be 100 per cent for some time."

Coach Paul Henare said the team had the depth at guard to cover for Kenny, with Tai Webster, Shea Ili, Corey Webster and the uncapped Raukawa in the squad.

The team leaves on Wednesday for a tour which takes in Japan, China, Latvia and Lithuania before arriving in Manila for the Rio qualifying tournament from July 5.
