Urban star act at Sydney Convention Centre

Sydney's Entertainment Centre is set to be resurrected as an ultra-modern convention centre, with Keith Urban set to headline the opening.

Aussie country rocker Keith Urban has been announced as the opening act for the ultra-modern International Convention Centre Sydney, formerly known as the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

Urban will headline an ICC opening event as part of his ripCORD world tour at the fan-shaped theatre with its 8000-seat unobstructed views at the Darling Harbour precinct on December 14.

Last December international superstar Elton John farewelled the old Entertainment Centre, which has now been bulldozed to the ground.
