US and Cuba sign pact to restore flights

Flights between the US and Cuba are set to resume following the signing of an arrangement between the two countries.

Transportation officials from the United States and Cuba have signed an arrangement to restore scheduled air services between the two countries, the US Department of Transportation says.

The department invited US air carriers to apply for the opportunity to provide scheduled passenger and cargo flights, launching a process to award the new flights, the statement read on Tuesday.
