A four-year-old California child is in serious condition after a fall from a 70-metre cliff over the Pacific Ocean.
The child, Sebastion Johnson, had been throwing stones into the ocean when he slipped and fell from Bodega Head on the north-central California coast on Monday evening, his father, Daryl Johnson, told the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.
The child's mother was next to him, Johnson said, but "she couldn't catch him fast enough". A park ranger found the child lying at the bottom of the cliff, alive and crying, according to the report.
Rescuers rappelled down the cliff and brought the child back up in a basket.
He was in an induced coma on Wednesday after surgery, with broken bones in his leg, wrist, skull and face, according to the report.

Children's Hospital Oakland spokesperson Kevin Kimbrough said his condition was unchanged since Tuesday.
