The United States on Monday asked Americans to exercise caution in New Delhi after a gun attack outside the Indian capital's main mosque injured two Taiwanese.
"US citizens are urged to always practice good security, maintain a heightened situational awareness and a low profile," the State Department said in a warden message to US citizens in India.
A warden message is general guidance and less than a travel warning which discourages citizens from travel.

A warden message covers "a general threat, not necessarily to American citizens," State Department spokesman Mark Toner said.
Two attackers on a motorbike opened fire with a sub-machine gun outside the imposing Jama Masjid on Sunday, injuring two Taiwanese members of a television crew travelling in a tourist minibus.
Authorities were still assessing the motivation behind the attack, which comes ahead two weeks before 7,000 athletes and officials converge on New Delhi for the Commonwealth Games, which mostly involves former British colonies.
