US ex-officials to testify at Russia probe

Ex-US intelligence and judiciary officials will testify at a May 8 hearing amid investigations into alleged Russian meddling in the US presidential election.

A Senate Judiciary Committee panel says former US intelligence and judiciary officials will testify at a May 8 hearing amid investigations into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 US presidential election.

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates will testify at the hearing, Crime and Terrorism committee chairman Charles Grassley said in a statement on Tuesday.

For Yates the hearing will mark her first appearance on Capitol Hill since she was fired in January after refusing to defend President Donald Trump's travel ban.
