US Marines en route to Top End

A new contingent of US Marines is arriving in the Northern Territory this month for a training rotation.

This year's rotation of US Marines training in Darwin is set to be the largest in seven years.

More than 1500 Marines and eight Osprey aircraft are on their way this month for training exercises that will wrap up in October.

Defence Minister Marise Payne said the increased rotation underscores the commitment of the Australian and US governments to work together in the interests of regional stability and security.
