The US says it will begin an "immediate review" of its support for the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen, after an attack on a funeral in the capital Sana'a killed more than 140 people.
"US security co-operation with Saudi Arabia is not a blank cheque," National Security Council spokesman Ned Price said.
"Even as we assist Saudi Arabia regarding the defence of their territorial integrity, we have and will continue to express our serious concerns about the conflict in Yemen and how it has been waged."
Price said an "immediate review" was being initiated and the US was "prepared to adjust our support so as to better align with US principles, values and interests, including achieving an immediate and durable end to Yemen's tragic conflict".
Jamie McGoldrick, the UN humanitarian co-ordinator in Yemen, said in a statement on Saturday that the humanitarian community in the country is ``shocked and outraged'' at the airstrikes which hit the hall packed with mourners.
Nasser al-Argaly, the Health Ministry's undersecretary, told a news conference that the Saudi-led coalition was responsible for the airstrike, which turned the site into a ``lake of blood".
