An American teenager believed to be armed and "infatuated" with the Columbine massacre has been found dead by authorities.
Sol Pais was an 18-year-old woman from Surfside, Florida, who authorities had erlier called "extremely dangerous”.
She purchased a shotgun and ammunition for what authorities feared would be a Columbine-inspired attack just days ahead of the 20th anniversary of the mass shooting.
Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Shrader said Ms Pais was discovered by the FBI with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Media reports said 18-year-old Sol Pais's body was discovered near the base of Mount Evans, which dominates the Denver skyline.
Authorities had mounted a massive search for Pais after she traveled from Florida to Colorado and was last seen in the foothills around Denver.
"I don't believe that they were in active pursuit at the time that she was found dead," the Sheriff added.
Colorado authorities, who said Pais was armed and considered "extremely dangerous," had ordered around half a million students to stay at home "due to ongoing safety concerns."
Officials posted pictures of Pais, her unsmiling face framed by shoulder-length brown hair.
