US to shun super trade pacts under Trump

Donald Trump has flagged America will only sign trade pacts with individual countries if he wins the US presidential election

If Donald Trump becomes US president America will only sign trade pacts with individual countries.

Mr Trump, in his speech accepting the Republican presidential nomination on Friday, declared the controversial Trans-Pacific Partnership between the US, Australia and 10 other nations won't happen because it hurts American workers and will destroy manufacturing.

"No longer will we enter into these massive transactions with many countries that are thousands of pages long," Mr Trump said.

Mr Trump pledged never to sign any deals that diminished America's independence.

"We will never ever sign bad trade deals, America first again, America first," he said.
