US Vice-President Joe Biden will visit Melbourne to highlight US-Australia ties on cancer research and aerospace, according to the state government.
Acting Premier James Merlino said Mr Biden will visit the recently opened state-of-the-art Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre during his three-day visit to the state.
Arriving on Saturday, Mr Biden will also tour the Boeing factory to see firsthand the making of Boeing's 787 Dreamliner project.
"Victoria and the United States collaborate strongly across aerospace, medical research and information technology and this visit will help strengthen those ties for the years ahead," Mr Merlino said on Wednesday.
There are also unconfirmed reports the vice-president will also attend the AFL match between the West Coast Eagles and Carlton Blues at the MCG on Sunday.
It's believed Mr Biden is a Philadelphia Eagles fan - so it seems the perfect fit.
He will also make a flying visit to New Zealand next week, the first US vice-president to visit the country since the early 1970s.
Prime Minister John Key said New Zealand's relationship with the US continued to go from strength to strength as indicated by Mr Biden finding time to visit.
