A rare Holden Torana SL/R L34 worth about $150,000 has been stolen during a burglary in suburban Hobart.

The 1977 sedan, with distinct orange paintwork, was taken from an address in Mount Nelson in the 24 hours leading up to 1pm (AEDT) Sunday, police say.

The car has special interest registration, SI7239 and anyone who sees the vehicle should contact police.
