Vegas shooting companion 'an Australian'

The woman who was wanted by Las Vegas police in connection with the mass shooting at a music festival is understood to be Australian.

The woman detained in connection with the Las Vegas mass shooting that has claimed more than 50 lives is reportedly Australian.

Marilou Danley was named as a person of interest following the mass shooting in Las Vegas on Sunday night (Monday AEDT).

Danley was a resident of the Gold Coast until she moved to the United States about 20 years ago, multiple outlets reported on Monday night.

The 62-year-old is understood to hold an Australian passport and is the girlfriend of Stephen Paddock, 64, the man identified as the shooter, News Corp reports.

Las Vegas police located Danley shortly after releasing her name to media.
