One of Australian rugby's true stalwarts is extending his coaching stay with the Brumbies until at least the end of 2021.
Laurie Fisher has just about done it all at the Super Rugby franchise and his latest contract will see him locked in as an assistant to head coach Dan McKellar.
Fellow assistant Peter Hewat has also earned a new deal, seeing him through until 2021.
The appointments come a week after the Brumbies announced a new two-year agreement for McKellar.
Having coached at the Brumbies on and off since 2000, Fisher said he had worked hard to stay relevant during two decades in professional coaching.
"It's not luck," Fisher told reporters.
"You don't always have success. I've had a few flat spots but I really work hard on trying to understand where the game is.
"I try and come up with something new each and every year."
The former school teacher started as the Brumbies' academy coach but rose through the ranks and was promoted to forwards coach, where he played an integral role in winning the 2004 Super 12 title.
Affectionately known as Lord, the popular Fisher was head coach of the Brumbies between 2005 and 2008 before stints in Europe with Gloucester and Munster.
Fisher returned to Canberra last year when McKellar took over as coach from Stephen Larkham.
Chief executive Phil Thomson says the franchise is in safe hands with its coaching team.
"We are confident that with Laurie and Peter working closely with Dan that we have the right people in place to challenge for a Super Rugby title," Thomson said.
