Jet fuel supply issues at Melbourne Airport are almost over.

ExxonMobil, which manages supply at the airport on behalf of all fuel providers, said on Saturday things had returned to normal for some of the impacted distribution terminals.

"This increased jet fuel supply chain capacity has meant that airline customer fuel allocations are now progressively returning to normal," a spokesman said.

The "immediate and deep" rationing was enforced from Thursday night because of a supply issue, forcing some international flights to make refuelling stops in other Australian cities.

Airport management is advising passengers to contact their airline for up-to-date information about flights.
