Vic body yet to be formally identified

The death of a woman whose body was found inside a Melbourne home is being treated as suspicious but police still haven't formally identified her.

Police are yet to formally identify a woman found dead in a Melbourne house in suspicious circumstances.

Emergency services were called to the Cragieburn home just before 11am on Sunday.

Police are treating her death as suspicious and a post-mortem examination is under way, a Victoria Police spokeswoman said on Monday.

A man from the Kernan Court home is in custody but no charges have been laid.

The single-storey brick home was cordoned off for most of Sunday and neighbours told the Seven Network they saw two young children being taken away by police.

No other details about the dead woman have been released, including her age.

Police are also not providing any information about the man being interviewed.
