Police are yet to formally identify a woman found dead in a Melbourne house in suspicious circumstances.

Emergency services were called to the Cragieburn home just before 11am on Sunday.

Police are treating her death as suspicious and a post-mortem examination is under way, a Victoria Police spokeswoman said on Monday.

A man from the Kernan Court home is in custody but no charges have been laid.

The single-storey brick home was cordoned off for most of Sunday and neighbours told the Seven Network they saw two young children being taken away by police.
