A grass fire in regional Victoria that burned through more than 1200 hectares on Friday has been declared under control after firefighters spent the night eradicating spot blazes.
The fire at Little River, 50km southwest of Melbourne, was brought under control just after 8pm on Friday night after blazing since midday.
"There is currently no threat to you, but you should stay informed and monitor weather and fire conditions," the Country Fire Authority said in a statement issued to residents.
The fire started from three separate points, and police are investigating the possibility the fire was deliberately lit.
The blaze crossed a rail line, halting train services bound for Geelong, and nearby residents were ordered to evacuate.
