A key figure who investigated Victoria's devastating Black Saturday bushfires has been made a judge.
Jack Rush QC has been appointed to the Supreme Court of Victoria, the state government announced on Tuesday.
Mr Rush was counsel assisting for the 2009 Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission.
He has also led military investigations and criminal cases, and probed police management practices.
Attorney-General Robert Clark says Mr Rush brings a distinguished record of achievement to the bench.

Mr Rush, who began his legal career in 1976, will officially take up the role of judge in the coming days.
