A 73-year-old Victorian Catholic brother has been charged with 14 indecent assault offences dating back more than 30 years.
The offences are alleged to have occurred at schools in Melbourne's west between 1976 and 1982.
The victims, both boys and girls, were aged between eight and 16 years when the alleged offences took place.
The brother was arrested on Wednesday morning by detectives from Taskforce Sano, which was set up in November to deal with the increased number of victims arising out of publicity from a Victorian parliamentary inquiry into child sex abuse by religious and other organisations.
The American man is due to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court later on Wednesday.
