A Victorian policeman has allegedly been caught drink driving while off-duty in Melbourne.

An off-duty police officer was allegedly caught drink driving in Melbourne.

The male sergeant blew a blood alcohol reading of 0.066 per cent when he was pulled over in Chadstone, in the city's southeast about 7.30pm (AEDT) on Friday, according to Victoria Police.

The officer who worked in a "specialist area" of the force will now be referred to the Victoria Police Professional Standards Command.

He was issued with a $433 on-the-spot fine and lost 10 demerit points.
