Vic cop burnt in continuing siege

A flaming object was thrown at police during a siege that continues at a Melbourne home.

A man remains holed up in a Melbourne home after throwing a flaming object at a police officer.

Police are attempting to negotiate with the man after responding to reports he was threatening self harm.

The man threw a lit object containing flammable liquid at an officer when police arrived at the Parkdale apartment about 1.30pm on Tuesday.

Inspector Bruce Wemyss told reporters the man was talking to police but "we're still trying to make progress with that negotiation".

A policeman hit in the leg by an object police say contained a flammable liquid was taken to hospital with burns.
