Vic cops prepare for high-tech crim catch

New technology will help Victoria's police track, locate, identify and disrupt patterns of criminal behaviour from mid 2017.

Terrorists, organised criminals, youth gangs and family violence offenders will have nowhere to hide after Victoria's police roll out streamlined technology.

The technology will operate from a central hub in Melbourne's CBD and will communicate data direct to cops on the street from mid 2017.

Assistant Commissioner Jack Blayney says the system will take police less than 20 minutes to find information they need whereas before it could take six hours by doing it manually.
