Vic dog kicked for 'Equality' scarf: owner

A dog wearing an "Equality" bandana supporting same-sex marriage has been attacked by a passer-by who yelled homophobic slurs, a Melbourne woman has tweeted.

A dog wearing an "Equality" bandana supporting same-sex marriage has been attacked in a Melbourne park by a person shouting homophobic slurs, its owner claims.

The man tried to kick Mack, who was walking in a park in Yarraville with a dog sitter, on Tuesday night.

Mack's owner, Claire Sutherland, posted on Twitter that the man was "shouting homophobic slurs" as he targeted the dog.

The kick did not connect, Ms Sutherland said on Twitter.

"He's totally fine though, kick didn't connect and our dog sitter gave the guy a mouthful," Ms Sutherland wrote on the social media site.
