Vic faces bushfire danger in coming days

Victorians could face severe and extreme bushfire danger on Wednesday, the Country Fire Authority says.

Wednesday is shaping up as potentially dangerous bushfire day in Victoria.

The Country Fire Authority says extreme fire danger is expected in the Mallee region in northwestern Victoria, with severe fire danger in the Wimmera, Northern Country, North Central, South West and Central districts on Wednesday.

Very high fire danger is likely in the North East and South and West Gippsland districts.

High fire danger is forecast in East Gippsland.

Strong northwesterly winds are forecast ahead of a late, gusty southwesterly change.

Temperatures will hit the mid-to-high 30s across much of the state.
