Vic hospitality workers march for wages

Hospitality workers on Melbourne's premier eat-street will march down Chapel Street to protest wage theft as their union files a complaint with Fair Work.

Lawyers for the hospitality union have filed a complaint with the Fair Work Ombudsman over "extreme levels of wage theft" on one of Melbourne's premier hospitality strips, Chapel Street.

The move comes as dozens of hospitality workers prepare to march down Chapel Street at noon after Hospo Voice, a digital union for workers, alleged at least 12 venues were stealing wages, with one venue paying its workers as little as $10 an hour.

Hospo Voice says it's uncovered cash payments, tax fraud, superannuation and wage theft, and alleges one business has been running two sets of books.
