Hundreds are expected to rally in Melbourne to support refugees on Manus Island after the closure of the off-shore detention centre.

Hundreds of people are expected to attend a rally in Melbourne to support refugees on Manus Island after the closure of the off-shore detention centre.

The protest against the treatment of the refugees will be held in the heart of the city on Saturday and has been organised by the Refugee Action Collective of Victoria.

"We are calling for human rights observers, for an end to the siege, and for all the men on Manus to brought here to safety," the group said on Facebook.

Greens federal deputy leader Adamn Bandy is expected to speak at the rally.
