A good Samaritan, whose brand-new ute was stolen a week ago as he helped an autistic child off a busy Melbourne road, says his vehicle still hasn't been found.
Aaron, 39, stopped in traffic to help the 14-year-old who was weaving in and out of cars on Rosamond Rd at Maidstone last Tuesday when his brand-new Ford Ranger was stolen.
A 51-year-old North Melbourne man has been charged with motor vehicle theft, but Aaron says police are no closer to locating his car.
"I know (he was) asked where it was, I believe (he) gave a location but the car just seems to have vanished," Aaron told 3AW on Tuesday.
"No one can find it."
Aaron says he initially thought he was being set up when he discovered his car had been taken.
"There was this moment where we thought we must be on candid camera or something, surely this hasn't happened, but indeed it did.
"Honestly what are the chances?"
Ford has offered Aaron a loan car while police continue to search for his ute and his insurance provider, Bingle, has waived their excess fee and offered to shout him a curry - the dish that was in his car when it was taken.
